IBM Unveils Linux IM

IBM is set to announce that its Lotus Sametime IM platform will suport Linux during the LinuxWorld Conference & Expo on August 14-17. IBM's vice president of the worlwide Linux startegy, Scott Hndy, says, "This move will mark the first time that the millions of Linux users worldwide will have the ability to run this real-time collaboration platform on both the desktop and server in a 100 percent Linux environment." The desktop version of the product is to be Java-based and completely rewritten with Eclipse RCP (Rich Client Platform) technology. Read more!
